I Thirst.

Reading through a book today two simple words from a scripture verse stood out to me. I thirst. Two words spoken by Jesus on the cross. He endured so much and endured it so we would not have to. I thirst. Two words that he said because he was physically thirsty at the brink of death. I can only assume that his soul was also thirsting for paradise and presence with his Father because he was separated in sin from him on the cross. I think we can get a glimpse into the heart of Jesus here. Right before he said it is finished, he said I thirst.

So many of us, if we are honest would say we are thirsting for something more. Our hearts crave something that we may not be able to pinpoint exactly. It’s a stirring in our souls. Even for some of us who have grown up in church. Sometimes maybe it’s because of the challenges and brokenness of the world  that starts to wear on us. Maybe it’s because some are caught up in sin that makes them feel far from God. Maybe there are some who are still seeking something to fill the void and brokenness in their hearts. Our hearts cry out  I thirst! You see in the end the longing can be fulfilled completely after we come to a place of surrender in His presence. We feel separated because we do not know his love.

The most common scripture in the bible we overlook sometimes because of familiarity. John 3:16 says For God so Loved the World that He gave His one and only son, so that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. This is Love and this is the place where our souls can find refreshing from our thirst. To understand his love and to be willing like Christ to say to the things that try and separate us from Him… It is finished. You are fully loved by God and welcomed into His presence. It is finished. We can find rest and solace for our hearts. It is finished.  We can find refreshing for our thirsting souls. It is finished. The place of His presence is a place where we can go and never thirst again. It is Finished. We walk in the place of the knowledge of His love for us and rest in the embrace of the prince of peace. Is your heart thirsting for something more? I challenge you to say to the devil that tries to keep you bound in fear or depression. It is Finished. Speak to your soul and mind and say It is finished!  Say I don’t believe the lies that keeps me from the truth of His love and the freedom found in His presence. You can say It is Finished because Jesus said It is finished. You can enter to His presence and you no longer have to be thirsty.

Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.- John 7:38

Whole in the heart.

I have been reading this book called Keep Your Love On by Danny Silk. The last chapter I  had read forced me to start searching my heart for what in me might be broken that has not allowed me to be completely and utterly vulnerable. I have known that  I have not been able to be fully vulnerable and transparent because I was afraid that I would not be loved fully by others. I honestly think as Christians this is a huge problem. Everyone knows that we are all not at all perfect but we all act as if we are. I’ve started on the road to being transparent and vulnerable with people because I want to know what it feels like to be loved.. really loved. In that place I have found such freedom. Freedom that I thought I never would be able to find in the past. I have been set free from myself, because I decided to die to myself.. When vulnerability and transparency come, surrender to God and freedom come. When you die to yourself you don’t care about how to protect yourself against the next offense. It doesn’t have to be about you… because you start caring for the needs of others. For a long time I felt that I wasn’t good enough, not smart enough, not handsome enough, etc.  Because of this I truly believe that it kept me from fully loving people and finding fulfillment in the love of God and others. I wanted to share a couple quotes that opened my eyes a bit.

“Survivors learn to manipulate their environment and other people in order to get some of their needs met. They don’t expect to be loved, because after years of abandonment, neglect, an abuse, they believe they are unworthy of love. They don’t  expect relationships to last- why should they? They are not anyone’s beloved. It’s never been safe for them to trust or be vulnerable. And they certainly don’t have the emotional resources to try and meet anyone else’s needs. So they will take what they can get. And what do you know? Survivors end up creating a reality where they are not loved, relationships don’t last, and the pain of unmet needs continue to destroy their lives. This is a hallmark of the orphan spirit- the very spirit from which God sent his son to deliver us.”- Danny Silk

“The experience of intimacy-of being completely known and accepted, and completely knowing and accepting in return- is the most satisfying experience we can have as humans.” The problem is that most of us are scared to death to be vulnerable in relationships. The reason is simple: In being vulnerable, we reach for our greatest need while risking our greatest pain.”- Danny Silk

Yes, I know that is heavy stuff. I don’t know how many of us have felt this way because we believed the lies of the enemy. You aren’t good enough. You are not pretty or cute enough. You aren’t smart enough. The worst lie for me was you don’t have anyone to completely  love you.  “You are not anyone’s beloved”. I want you to know that these are beliefs that began with a lie. You adopted an orphan spirit mentality that is not at all who you are as a child of the King. You see I think we have bought into so many lies that we have lost track of our identity- of who we are. This has caused many of us to lose our way in the way of our hearts finding fulfillment in the love of God and of others. We have thought and believed these things and it caused some of us to close down emotionally and we have been shaken… and our hearts have been afraid to open up again. To be fully vulnerable and free to be able to love others like Christ loves us is so very scary, but is is absolutely essential and necessary. I want you to to know that if you have believed these lies they can be broken over you today. If you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart you have been accepted into the family of God. You are His beloved. You are his favorite one. You are….. because He died so you could be His. Quick Insert- if you have not received Jesus into your heart and want want to experience being a part of this hope…just say Jesus forgive me of my sins and come into my heart…. that’s it. That simple!

I share all this in the hope that in sharing a bit the struggle of my own heart we could start a process of being more open and vulnerable toward each other. Sure it is scary and risky but everything in life that is worth fighting for is. I think our relationships with one another are worth fighting for. We are created to crave true love and intimacy with God and within the safe harbor of people we can trust. We just have to simply trust and let go of the fear of the unknown. Once we recognize who we are as fully loved by God we can let our guard down and let that love flow to others. Yes we can risk arrows of rejection and of hurt but if we are loving with the heartbeat of God.. with pure motives and to desire to do good and draw out the best in others we will be okay. If you are ready do lay down the walls of the lies of the past all you have to do is receive hope in the love of God for you. Step out in faith and start loving people. Truly loving people. Being vulnerable and open so that you can begin to find healing and others can find healing in that place. It’ll be okay.. I promise.. you will be okay!! Lets do this! Lets choose to really love one another.. lets be real with one another. I love you!!! ha!

Help me Breathe

Job 33:4

For the Spirit of God has made me,
and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

The other day I watched a DVD by Andy Andrews entitled The Seven Decisions which was based off His book The Travelers Gift. It was an incredible DVD. Even more incredible was what uncommon compassion God placed in my heart when they showed a quick shot of the audience and the two people in this picture. I had to back up because I knew God wanted to share something with me. I backed up to the spot a few times. The camera shot was only about 2 seconds long so I finally took a picture with my camera.

My first thought was what Grace and compassion these two share. I could assume they are a married couple but no matter the connection the picture tells a story of a deep love. I sensed that this man was helping this woman  breathe a little easier than she may have otherwise. This is the kind of love that God calls us to. That in our weakness we help each other breathe. Not necessarily physically but that could be the case. God calls us to love one another and to breathe spiritual or emotional life.

There may be times in life where I need you to come by my side and speak words of life (Theopneustos -God Breathed words) into my soul. Likewise there may be times that I need to do that for you. This is what the Apostle Paul spoke of in his letter to Timothy (All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (theopneustos) , and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness- 2 Tim. 3:16) Sometimes we fail to recognize the power our words yield. They literally have the power of life or death. Imagine what your words can do to encourage someone who is at the brink of losing all hope or what could happen if someone uses words negatively in that same situation. Though I digress I think this an important point. Speak Life, hope, joy, peace, mercy, and words of love. Speak the word over what you think is impossible. Speak life.

We are made to be carriers of the gift of the word of God that brings fullness of life. We are compelled to compassion. Be the shoulder that the weary one could rest upon. Be open to love and speak words of hope and life to the ones that need a fresh breath (word from God) You could be someone’s connection to hope.

As I look at the picture above I cannot help but think that this is exactly what God does for us. When we need help. When we need to know someone really cares and loves us. When we need help to find the breath to go on. He speaks gently to our hearts. Come rest in my mercy. Find your hope in my love for you. Lay your head on my shoulder, rest awhile, and let me take your burden. You see God promises to make all things new again. You can find your comfort in Him. Find life in the midst of darkness. Hope to awaken your heart to dream again. Healing in His presence for you body and mind. Find your breath in Him so that you can fully live again.

Prophetic word on Grace

“I will pursue you with honor for my name sake. Take my name. Take my inheritance. My covenant was cut upon the cross when blood was shed so that you can enter into my rest . This is my covenant  of love with you. Nothing and no one can separate you from my love. Leave no doubt that my mercy rests on you. There is a place of my grace that I want you to come to so revelation of my faithfulness and love toward you will awaken hope in you. This grace will keep you in the place of honor with desire for righteousness. This is where your salvation meets  sanctification. Where my love becomes so real that you long for wholeness. Come away to the place where freedom becomes reality. You can come out from the place where your soul rages to the place of rest and peace in knowing that you are truly free. Open your heart to allow my love to fill you with the gift of my grace. Come rest a while and experience peace that passes all understanding.  Release your heart to experience  grace that will bring freedom that you have longed for. Take hope again and receive my freedom through Grace that will awaken your heart to surrender in the fullness of the rest of my Love. I am your refuge, your strength, and your ever present hope.” – God

The Battle

5 We are demolishing arguments and ideas, every high-and-mighty philosophy that pits itself against the knowledge of the one true God. We are taking prisoners of every thought, every emotion, and subduing them into obedience to the Anointed One. 6 As soon as you choose obedience, we stand ready to punish every act of disobedience.- 2 Corinthians 10:5-6

12 We’re not waging war against enemies of flesh and blood alone. No, this fight is against tyrants, against authorities, against supernatural powers and demon princes that slither in the darkness of this world, and against wicked spiritual armies that lurk about in heavenly places.- Ephesians 6:12

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.- Galatians 5:16-18

Do you feel like you’re in a battle.
Hope is fading. It’s hard to see.
You can’t break free and fear’s trying to gain the victory.
Transfixed somewhere between a fake smile and total despair.
You cry out hard and your crying out now.
Feelin’ like you won’t ever be free.
Listen Up.
I’ve got your back
Check yourself
What battle are you fighting?
Who is your enemy?
I’m tired of seeing you hurting.
Listen up.
Lets turn back the clock.
Start fresh and see what happens.
Quit wielding your sword against flesh and blood.
Quit cutting yourself.
Quit cutting your brother.
This is a spirit battle.
Against supernatural powers and spiritual armies.
Are you ready?
We are about to battle.
We start here.
We start now.
We are bringing to ruin every argument.
Destroying every high and mighty idea.
Anything that comes against the knowledge God.
We tear it down!
Taking every thought and emotion captive.
We give it to God so He can hold it for ransom.
You see God says
It’s not by your might or by your power.
It’s by My Spirit.
This is a spiritual battle.
You can’t see it.
But you can feel it.
Listen here. This is the bottom line.
The Apostle Paul says it like this.
The desires of flesh are against God’s Spirit.
The desires of the Spirit are against the flesh.
Oppositional forces that will keep you from destiny.
Choose wisely.
I think it’s about time we break the back of the enemy.
Listen its really pretty easy.
Choose God’s Spirit and you win already.
You don’t have to struggle.
See God’s Spirit has bound the enemy.
He will loose you to victory.
Remember its not by might nor by power.
This isn’t your battle alone.
We stand with God.
We stand together.
Release the hurt.
Forget the Past.
Release the rage.
forgive yourself.
forgive others.
The battles won.
It’s already over.

Catch The Love

First video blog post you guys! Sorry for the rough quality but It’ll get better haha. Praying that God would speak to someones through this.

A Key of God- Meekness of Wisdom (James 3:13-18) Let it change you!!!

A Key of God- Meekness of Wisdom (James 3:13-18) Let it change you!!!

What does one who is wise and understanding look like? It is one who desires wisdom greatly (Prov. 8:11-For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her). I bet it’s someone who looks a lot like the person described in James 3. One who has meekness of wisdom. I wanted to be clear of what meekness looks like so I looked it up. Meekness means to be humbly patient. To be overly submissive or compliant, and to be gentle and kind. James 3:13-18 is pretty specific in how we can walk in this Godly wisdom.

We cannot have bitterness, envy, and we cannot be self-seeking in our hearts. We can’t be boastful and in so doing lie against the truth (Jesus). If we do this.. this wisdom is not from heaven.. but it is steeped from a earthly, sensual, demonic place. It’s the place that only caters to our own senses… that calls us back to the things of this world that our hearts long to be separate from in God. It brings us out of the place of peace and brings confusion.  How can we make sure our motives are right and our heart is pure toward the “the works we do for God”? How can we glorify God with a sincere and pure heart with right motives? We need to make sure our good conduct is done with this meekness of wisdom. (Prov. 8:12-“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out knowledge and discretion). This wisdom comes from the heart beat of God through His word.

If you are like me I want to make sure my heart is not selfish. That every fiber of my being screams out  Jesus. To make Him known through my love and actions. But I want it to always be pure and not seeking of itself. I’ve failed in this in the past of course. I don’t want my own heart and senses to deceive me. Our hearts should long for wisdom from above that is first pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality or hypocrisy. Geez. Imagine what the world would be like if we could all learn to walk in this wisdom!  I’m beginning to find out how important it is to remain in peace because according to James 3:18 the fruit of righteousness  is sown in peace by those who make peace. I think the key is we need to learn to be peacemakers. To begin to walk in peace. I pray that we  ask God for this wisdom.  (James 1:4-5-   But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.)

Our lives can impact others just by the simple act of walking in meekness of wisdom. Our lives will reflect the heart of Jesus.. and our hearts will be in line with the truth of Jesus. We will be free to live Jesus fully from the inside of our hearts to the outside. People will know that we are ones who truly love them not just say they do. This world needs us to love out of the place of this truth because they need to be introduced to the Author of love.. the author of wisdom.. the author of freedom.

Read the scripture below until it sinks down deep.. I think it’s a key. See what amazing doors it can open.

James 3:13-18-

13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

True Romance

Yesterday I was at work when I saw a couple walking toward me. The gentleman probably in his late 40’s to mid 50’s was guiding his wife with his left arm wrapped around her with so much grace and compassion. He gently asked some other customers to excuse them so they could get through because his wife was sight impaired. At the time I had no idea why I had such strong emotions well up in my spirit. I think I do now. At the time I was thinking it was just my soul  but I was  talking to God and saying that’s one of the greatest desires I have God! To be able to love and care for someone on such a deep level. Through days that may not be the greatest and through the days that seem like they are perfect. Today I was thinking back on that couple and God began to speak to my heart. “Robert that is just a glimpse of how much I desire to love my church…my people… my bride. I long for my people to understand that no matter what they may feel like or how helpless they may feel at times I am always holding them, guiding them, and I will always and forever love them”. I think sometimes we need to learn how to rest in the embrace of God. Whether we are feeling like we are blinded by distraction or just need direction in life, or if we are in a good place and things are going great. We need to rest in the embrace of God. Its the safest place to be and I think it’s there where we can hear God speak to our hearts. Marriage is a picture of God and the church. Just like God created men to love and lead their wives He desires to love us fully and lead us and be directly involved with our lives. Likewise just as a Lady is supposed to respect and submit to her husband knowing her husband fully loves her and has her best interest in mind and heart We as the church need to respect and submit to God because He fully loves us and wants only the best for us. His goodness should overwhelm us as we glimpse this in the example He gives us within the parallel and picture of the marriage relationship. So get a glimpse of His favor and goodness and fall into the embrace of a God who desires to be only good to you. I challenge you to read the scripture below. God wants to talk to you.

21 And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22 For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. 24 As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.

25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. 29 No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. 30 And we are members of his body.

31 As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” 32 This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. 33 So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Ephesians 5:21-33
